Tested and certified as an Expert Field Installer by the Dampp-Chaser Corporation, I have successfully installed over 150 systems. So I can help you determine what your piano needs. And Dampp-Chaser manufactures the best systems to safeguard against environmental moisture problems.
I place pianos in three categories:
One – Those that REQUIRE a humidifier. The Colorado altitude and erratic weather can greatly affect the organic wood components of pianos. This tough environment especially affects older pianos that lived in humid conditions. In cases of loose tuning pins and/or a cracked soundboard, the piano may not survive without assistance.
Two – Those that would BENEFIT from a humidifier. These types of pianos really LIKE piano humidifier systems, but they don’t necessarily REQUIRE one. Humidifiers help tunings last longer, keep the wood from warping, and the piano’s life will be extended. Without a humidifier, the piano would survive, but it won’t work as efficiently.
Three – Those that are DOING FINE on their own. I’m not going to tell you if your piano needs a humidifier if it doesn’t.
